VIKING Forbor HSS lang Product description: HSS long drill (MPD4) is used for CC Carbide Cut multi-purpose hole saws, Long HSS drills are used for holders with hollow shafts and for all VIKING CC Carbide Cut hole saws. Use carbide drills for hole saws with carbide teeth. Selection of suitable drill bit for hole saw holder: The choice of drill bit depends on which type of hole saw (bi-metal or Carbide Cut or 3TPI) is placed on the holder and depends on the material to be cut. Thus, drills come in two different lengths (short or long) and in two different qualities (HSS or HM). HSS (High Speed Steel) drills are used for steel, wood, plaster, etc. HSS drills are used both for bi-metal and CC Carbide Cut multi-purpose hole saws HM (Hard Metal Equipped) drills are used for brick/leca.HM drilling is used together with Carbide Cut holesaws and VIKING 3TPI black holesaws.Short bits are used for bi-metal holesaws and holesaws with small hard metal teeth (VIKING 3TPI black holesaw), as they have a smaller cutting depth(38mm).Long bits are usedfor CC Carbide Cut multi-purposehole saws because the cutting depth is greater than that of bi-metalhole sa ws.H SS short bit(MPD4S )isusedforbi-met alholesa ws .H SS longbit(MPD4 )isusedforCCCarb ideCutmulti-pur poseholesa ws .HM shortbit(MPD4SCT )isusedforsmallhardmetalteethholesaw sVIK ING3TP I(blackh olesaw ).HMlongbit(MP D4CT )isusedfo rCCCarbideCutmulti-purposeholesawswhen cutting in brick/leca. So choose a holder and remember to add an appropriate drill bit if the drill bit in the holder does not fit the hole saw and material to be cut. For example, a Carbide Cut hole saw for cutting soft bricks requires a brick drill (HM) and it should be long because the hole saw has a larger cutting depth. A Carbide Cut holesaw for cutting wood/plaster requires an HSS drill, and it should be long because the hole saw has a larger cutting depth.
